Automatically de-activate category if assigned products are sold out or in-activate?

I have thousands of products in my stores and hundreds of categories. I'm am sure my customers get annoyed and confused if they open a category that has no active products. I wish someone would create a feature that would disable a category from being displayed if it contains no active products. This would be a terrific help to large store owners.

If we can structure a product to not show when out of stock the same logic would apply to making a category not show when there are no products showing. I second the motion!
