What happened to the forums?

1) So how is anyone supposed to make sense of this type of display. (See attached)

2) Is there anyway to get back to just showing "New Topics" since you last logged in? (Like the old method, which didn't include the posts you just replied too.)

3) Is anyone else not able to "Mark Topics as Read"

4) Why, can I be logged into the forum automatically, see my correct sig and info, but have my entire profile BLANK under user settings.

It definitely different.

I recall how the forums were back in the day (MM3.+, MM4.+), and how everyone had issues when MIVA (well Miva Merchant back then), changed to an entirely new system and how everyone (starting with me) were resistant to change, though in retrospect it was for the best in the long term.

I suppose most issues is a matter of getting use to it and some are legitimate. For me the trick sometimes is being able to objectively being able to discern between the two.

Here are the things I have come across that would make things better for me in addition to suggestions made by others:

1. Frequent "Error: Invalid server response. Please try again. OK" popup message when posting. I have yet been able to determine what exactly triggers it.
2. Message Center screen, specifically Notifications Preview section, perhaps I am not using it as intended. Nevertheless, it would be a lot easier to read it each notification were to be better structured.
   1. For example: If the title for each post were to have its own line immediately below or above the author(s) info line, it would make it easier to read, especially on longer titles wherein they continue to the next line.
   2. The all Dismiss buttons aligned to right margin.
   3. Post snippet below title line.
   4. Display forum title sections breadcrumbs section (e.g.: "... your subscription: Online Merchants >Miva Merchant 9".
3. Email Notifications:
   1. eMail Subject may be too long and not quite as useful, especially for email clients with the ability to group conversations by subject. How about something like "Post: [FORUM TITLE SECTIONS BREADCRUMBS] > [POST TITLE]"
   2. Significant number of people if not most tend to read desktop screens with their mouse cursor, it may be a good idea to place the link to post after the post snippet instead of before.

Nothing mayor with the exception of constant error messages.

PM sent sometimes are not saved in Sent folder. Sent the same message more than once, still not working.

What happened to the Reply link?

Personally, I have always experienced some difficulty in reading content with subtle sections contrast due to lack of "white space" (e.g.: between post vs something like this).

Two improvements I would like to eventually see in the forums:

• "Did this reply thread resolved or answered your issue or question" as some forums do.
• Figure out a way to encourage people to use tags when creating a new thread.

Sigh....five days after first asking...still not getting email notifications from the forum for new posts to threads I am subscribed to and new post daily digest like I used to get. Please, please, please with sugar on top...anyone?

Another issue. Can this be looked at in my account as well?

Error and related to the email notifications like we used to have....so I was playing thinking maybe re-subscribing will give me the option to get email notifications...So, I unsubscribed to Official Miva Merchant News - Read Only and then tried to re-subscribe and got the error: Sorry, you are not authorized to view this page (no_permission)

I would like search to work better by searching phrases or combinations of words rather than treating each word separately. Very hard to find relevant search results as it is.

So very sorry for taking so long to respond Jeff. I had no idea you had responded to my post, since I am still not getting email notifications. The forum I keep getting the error on when I try to post is Official Miva Merchant News - Read Only.

I attached a screenshot of my settings for notifications, and yes, under Account, my email address is listed. And, no, they are not going into spam. I am just plain not getting them.
