    Is it me?

Yes, I do need new glasses (actually, need glasses period, but that's maybe another story) or did the text in the forums change? It seems very dull grey (and smaller, but i can fix that). Can we get text darker? Failing eyes would like to know.

    Hey Bruce,
Nothing has changed on these Forums in quite some time. Everything is still good on my end, and Rick's end. There is most likely some sort of browser setting off. Is this across all browsers for you?

A few years ago, it became popular/trendy for Web sites to use pale, washed-out colors and fonts with very thin lines. I don't need glasses, but my eyes aren't as sharp as they used to be, and I found this pretty annoying. As long as we're discussing this, I'll put in a vote for black text instead of gray, This applies to the Miva admin pages as well as the forum, and possibly other pages at Miva.com.

The newer browsers seem to be pretty good at zooming in and out -- maybe too good. Did you know that, with many programs, you can zoom the screen by holding the Ctrl key while turning the thumbwheel on your mouse? A slip of your thumb might have done that accidentally at some point.

Firefox recently acquired a new feature to help with this. If you have the zoom level set to anything other than 100% (normal), a little icon appears at the right end of the address bar, showing the current zoom setting. If you click the icon, it restores the zoom level to 100%

i'm constantly using screen zoom. even with three 24 in hi rez monitors...but, yea. I've mentioned having either a user controllable style sheet of perhaps just some 'user settings' in the admin for years. One MAIN reason is to be able to say, put a RED border around a LIVE site and GREEN on the dev site when working on a client site...that, and the NAME (friendly) of the site prominently across the top.

Yes, I like the idea of using different border or background colors. It's obvious the instant you log in, so it would help prevent mistakes. Sometimes I have browser tabs open to both the dev and live stores for the same client; I'm constantly checking to make sure I don't get confused about which is which.

On a related note, I'd like to see a more prominent display of the current store selection when using the admin in a "mall" with multiple stores. Not many of my clients use these. When I work in one of these sites, I often get tripped up because I forget to switch to the proper store. Colored borders would be great for that..

Rick, do we need to submit these ideas to the dream thread? (Some of these seem pretty easy as it should be simply changes to the CSS in the admin)

I definitely like the idea of allowing users to have some control over the page appearance, possibly just by being able to add some CSS. -- and have these changes stored in a place where modules can read and write them.

                Thanks --

Bruce - PhosphorMedia no this is fine, but revamping the Forums isn't on our list in the near term.

                    Rick,

I think Kent and I where talking about having the appearance of the admin a bit more 'personalizable' in appearance. One important area we both see (because of working multiple sites, but this holds true for store owners working between dev and live sites) is being able to easily discern the Dev site from the Live site (other than looking a the small "url" address bar).

Yes that should go in the Dream Feature section, but nothing on that subject is happening pre V10 (and a lot of thought will have to go into what we truly want to accomplish). The dev site issue will be addressed a different way in V10.
                      Thanks,

Yes, I was referring to the admin pages. But some of my comments about things like colors and fonts with poor readability would also apply to the forums (and everything else that you publish).

                        Thanks --

In Firefox and looks like in Chrome you can often customize css for your browser. http://kb.mozillazine.org/index.php?...&printable=yes I use to do this in Firefox in the Miva admin in a few places. There are free extensions that will do this in Chrome and Firefox but I'm usually too paranoid to allow unknown publisher that kind of access.

Maybe this new feature was just added to the Forum, but if I view "My Profile" there's now a link to "Customize My Style". Seems like we can edit the display of everything from there. Buttons, font size, color etc.
