    View Full Site

Just had a request to add a link that would allow someone on a mobile device to view the "Full Site". Is this possible with a responsive design?

The short answer...no. They are seeing the full site, it has just been reformatted to fit their view port.

Thanks for giving more to add on to what I'm already going to tell them. I had already started off with the "short answer".

Maybe it's obvious, I think it would be a lot of work, but I think you'd need to use alternate header and CSS to load a version of the full site. Ya I know, kinda counter intuitive these days.

It defies the whole purpose and if the client is asking for it then it means that the responsive layout isn't good enough and has to be optimized so the customer can see all what he wants to show.

I'm not going to go so far as to say it's "not good enough" - perhaps the need to educate the ins and out of a responsive design, yes.

its a long struggle with some of them. especially trying to explain why they can't have a 'left' column...

Or explaining why you worked so hard to replace the tables in the old layout ... no a table set to 100% is not a responsive design...
