I'm trying to simplify the way donations are handled on our website.
Our former webmaster set up Miva for our store orders and donations. You can see it in action here: http://store.3abn.org/merchant2/merc..._Code=FEATURED
Currently donations to our nonprofit organization are handled the same as product orders: They go into the basket, where for example, a $50 donation would appear at 50 units of $1 donation towards a particular area that users can choose. If anyone wants to order CDs, books, DVDs, etc., those appear alongside the donation(s) in the shopping cart.
To me this seems like a very awkward way to handle donations. Users have complained about the complexity of it. Obviously we want to make this as simple as possible: Put in how much money you want, what project you want to support, enter your billing info and card number, and process. The cart system does not seem necessary. I'm wondering if there is a way to separate out the donation system from the product ordering system, and make it easier to do.
ANY suggestions would be much appreciated.
I am new to the Miva system, but am trying to learn it. I've already made some small changes to the store, and am comfortable with it, for the little I've done. But there is still a lot of unfamiliar territory.
