Free Shipping Coupon upon Newsletter Sign Up

Does anyone know if it is possible to email a customer a unique coupon code for free shipping upon newsletter signup? I do not know where to start in solving this problem.

We currently have Miva integrated with the MailChimp Signup Module. Any crafty ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Depending on how you have your signup forms set up, there's the Final "welcome" email and the Confirmation "thank you" page. We include a hard coded coupon code in these templates. You could also create a custom "Page" on your site and send the person to a custom "Final welcome page" and use the generate coupon module: http://apps.miva.com/generate-coupons.html
