Storefront Link to group of specified products

Trying to create a link on the storefront page to a specific group of products. Tried creating a category with those products. The problem is that now that category shows on the cat tree. Is there a solution to hiding it from the cat tree or is there a better solution that someone can suggest.

Never mind. Found a easy solution in an earlier post.

"Another method is to assign the two hidden categories to a parent category that is inactive. Works like a charm with no scripting. "
