Google Shopping API vs Template Data Feed

I currently use Emporium Plus Data Feed. Is there a way to automatically run that?

If not, I am trying to decide which method to use. Can I use custom fields with the Google Shopping API? I have a lot of the info required by Google in Custom fields.
    Thank you,
    John

You can automate the Template Date Feed via a cron job. Details here:

    http://www.emporiumplus.com/v5/tdfcron.txt

If you wanted to switch to using the Built in Google Shopping Integration, all the data you have stored in custom fields can be imported to the new Google Shopping Fields.

Both methods end up doing the same thing, using the API has a bit more automation since it can automatically send up new products / Product changes via a scheduled task which also extends the product expiration date so you will not longer have to manually generate and upload feeds.

Is there any advantage to switching to the Miva Template Data feed?
      Thank you,

I doubt the Template Data Field module is going to be updated.

The Emporium Plus module is definitely not going to get any updates.

How do I pull the short inventory stock message into the data feed?

How do I pull in the list of categories to get to the product, ie:
Dremel > Burrs Diamond > Sets
              Main > Parent > Daughter

              Thank you,
              John

I tried to use the Miva Template data field, but could not get a couple of items to work. So, I followed the cron instructions for the Emporium Plus. I can run the feed from a browser and I can log into PLESK, but I can't figure out what to do from there.
