    Re: How do I Assign Alt Image Tags for Product Photos?

    What is the easiest way to assign alt image tags for each product photo? I would like to upload this info in the same txt file that I use to upload the products. Is this possible or not? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    In order to import the image information with your other data, you will need to create new image types. To create new image types, in your administration portal, navigate to User Interface -> Image Types. Once you have created your new image types, you can FTP the images to the 'graphics/00000001/' directory, populate your CSV file, and import.

      Thanks for the info!

      1. Does that mean that all of the fullsize and thumbail images must be located in the following directory?: graphics/00000001/
      If so then I will have to change all of this info in the flat file that I upload into Miva.

      2. Also I assume that this flat file would have a separate column where I would have the alt image info.
      Thanks!

        When using Image Types, you do not need to upload the full-sized and thumbnail images; you only need to upload a single, large image to that directory. Once you create the new image types, I would recommend creating a new product export. There you will see the new columns for uploading the new images.

          If they just want custom Alt tags (instead of product name), couldn't they just assign a custom field for this and then replace the image call in the template to use:

          alt="&mvt:customfield_var;"

          ?
