The client will probably want to know: how difficult is it to upgrade to CSSUI? Is it going to require starting with out-of-the-box CSSUI templates, and re-applying all of their customizations? Also, desides URI Management, what other features are there that they can't use until they upgrade?

    Thanks --

That's impossible to just "guess" via the Forums. It's anywhere from 20 hours to 1000 hours of work? Depending on their site, size of catalog, customizations, backend integrations, etc...

Rick, size of catalog matters? It is just the same templates driving the product pages no matter if it is 100 or 3000. Why would it matter or add to hours of work? I really am asking this as a legit question.

To migrate from MMUI to CSSUI?

Well it depends on a number of things, for example before we had Attribute Inventory (which I know we've had for going on 7 or 8 years now), people used to do weird things with their data as a workaround and combine it with the old Viking Coders inventory module.

So let's say for example you have 1,000 products with 2 sub options and each one has 5 choices. So if my math is correct you have roughly 25,000 total unique SKU's.

Some people in the old days combined those attributes into "combo attributes" so let's say in my hypothetical it was clothing with a color and size, instead of having their data properly separated out into Master Product, List of Options A, List of Options B, they had Master Product, List of all possible combo options.

That can have unintended consequences (say with a Google Shopping Feed or Amazon Feed) so in moving to CSSUI they would likely want to fix their data.

The bigger the data mess (which is generally tied to size of catalog) the more hours it takes.

That's just one example, but it generally as a rule of thumb comes down to "hacky" customizations done in prior years (and if you're on MMUI the odds of those are much higher) often to accomplish something not built in at the time, can take more hours to untangle.

If you don't have those kind of issues, then it's fairly straightforward to migrate from MMUI to CSSUI regardless of catalog size.
          Thanks,
