Reports or exports with both sales and current inventory

Is there some way, or is there a module available, that will give detailed sales on each item down to the variant level and also give the current stock level?
When doing ordering it's nice to see how many you sold vs. how many are on hand to tell you how many you need.

The best way to get this report would be to leverage Miva's batch reports to build a custom report for you. It allows you to select a range or orders and run a report against them. The output is controlled by the batch report template. it is probably a 3 to 5 hour project to create a report like this. Once it is created you can easily run it in the admin on any date range you need.

Thanks for the suggestion Brennan, I'll certainly consider that, but was hoping for something "off the shelf". Anyone know of a reports module that would do that? Seems so straight forward and the kind of report that anyone would want. The data is available via product sales report for sales and inventory export for the current inventory, but combining the two resulting spreadsheets is all but impossible.
