Combine graphics/00000001/ image folders from multple stores

We have several large stores (200,000 SKUs each) that have many of the same products. Because of this, we are trying to use a single graphics/00000001/ folder across the domains. I have tried to follow the blog post on setting up a CDN and tailor it to our needs (http://www.miva.com/blog/how-to-impl...miva-merchant/). I setup the domain settings for each of the stores to point to the graphics folder of one of the store.

Using ImageMachine, any existing image before I tried to consolidate seems to work. However, when I try to add a new image to a store, it gives the following error:

File does not exist or is not a valid image

I am guessing I am either missing a step or this is a permissions / ownership issue that can hopefully be resolved. I submitted a ticket to Miva support, and they suggested I post on the forums.

Can you send me an email and let me know the domains and some example images? With ImageMachine in the mix, this could be fairly complicated coming up with a workable solution, but I can post a summary if we can turn it into something that could be applicable to other customers.

I just wanted to make sure you got my email. Any thoughts on a solution? Would it help if we used a CDN? That was the plan for us once we figured this portion out, but we can step that up if that needs to be part of the solution.
