Image Quality of Generated Thumbnails from Image Machine

How can we control the quality percentage that is used when Image Machine creates the generated thumbnails?

I see there is a "JPEG Image Quality:" setting in Domain Settings and that is set to 100%.

I'd like to set the quality of the generated thumbnails independant of that.

    Is that possible?

That is the only option. When Image Machine is generating thumbnails it will use that setting to determine the compression of the jpg image. Are you looking for higher quality or lower quality images?

      Lower.

When we upload the images we want them unchanged. It when the thumb images are generated we want them at a lower quality.

Hopefully that way we can purge generated images and increase the quality and they will regenerate at the better quality if we chose to.

Brennan am I misunderstanding that option? It's in the "Upload Settings" section of Domain Settings. I took that to mean that the images uploaded into Miva through the admin would be set to that quality level.

If it's only used to determine the level that Image Machine uses that that is exactly what I want. Can you clarify?

        Thanks!

That setting is what Image Machine uses when generating new images dynamically so that should be exactly what you want. You can adjust that setting lower then go into Image Management and delete all re-sized images and Miva will re-create them at the lower quality.

Your original uploaded image is not ever compressed. It is used as the master image to generate all he different sizes Miva needs.

            That's great!

You may want to recategorize/reword that setting since it indicates it impacts "uploads".

What would the recommended setting be?

I guess I too am confused. For example, if the original image is compressed (using Photoshop for example) to 60%, what's going to happen to that image if JPEG Image Quality is set to 80%? An image at 48%?
