When a product is discontinued in our store, we change the inventory to zero to hide it from Search Results and Related Products. But, is there any way to figure out what products it had been assigned to as a Related Product so that we can add new Related Products to that product?

There may be other ways to do this, but there is an inexpensive module to import/export related products available here: http://apps.miva.com/related-product...lat-files.html
Just run an export, sort on the second column, and find your discontinued item. You'll see all of the product codes it's assigned to, and you can even replace them with new products in the export file and reimport to make re-assigning easy. -
