    Updates to Miva's MailChimp module

I'm using version 5.5009 of Miva's MailChimp module.

I have noticed that in the last couple months none of my MailChimp campaign reports have shown e-commerce data. I contacted MailChimp support about this. They looked into my API data and provided this response about what was causing the issue:

Our e-commerce reports have been updated recently and those Totals will only show data that has been passed to MailChimp via our latest version of the MailChimp API, version 3.0. It looks like this particular integration is sending API calls via version 1.3, so it's not expected for those to show in the Campaign Report.

With this in mind, it is good to know that we are retiring all older versions of the API at the end of 2016. You may want to reach out to the support team at Miva Merchant and let them know that it will be necessary to update to the latest version of the API, which will help you to see more accurate reporting data as well! You can share this guide that goes into full detail about this:

Retiring Old Version of the MailChimp API: http://devs.mailchimp.com/blog/sunse...-api-versions/
Will it be possible for Miva to update this module to make use of the new API version?

And, on a related note, with the new API MailChimp is providing a lot more interesting and powerful integration features that the current module doesn't support. MailChimp seems to be working with cart providers to produce more full featured and powerful integrations (http://mailchimp.com/connect-your-store/). It would be stupendous if Miva could be included among the carts that provide this level of integration. Perhaps a possibility for the future?

We are aware of the end of life for the current API version and are discussing the best way to update to their new API. I don't have any specific plans yet, but once we do I'll post them here.

Is there any update if Miva integrates with Mailchimp V3 E-commerce integration? They are already integrated with Magento, Shopify, and Woocommerce.

There are many new features we cannot take advantage of without the V3 integration.

It's on our very short term list.

                That's great news Rick!

Can you manage our expectations a bit? Will the update be converting the current module to the Mailchimp API 3.0, or will it provide the ability to do some of the more sophisticated things that MailChimp is promoting for their other e-commerce platform integrations? And does "very short term" imply there might be a new version in weeks, months, other? No one will hold you to a deadline--just curious....

                Thanks.

We're still specing it out, but we plan to have something out by end of year (but doubtful for the holidays). It'll be a new module AFAIK, the driving force on our side is them deprecating their old API on 12/31.
                  Thanks,

Rick, if the old API is "deprecating" on 12/31, will the old API still work on 1/1/17 if the Miva V3 integration is not ready by then?? Just want to make sure we won't be caught off guard by the Mail Chimp integration not working on Jan 1st.

Yes. We've confirmed with them that the old API will continue to work past 12/31 it will just no longer be updated and supported past that point. For example if there was suddenly a problem with the API that needed fixed, the solution would be to move to the new API version.
