MIVA, Inc., Introduces Algorithmic Web Search

MIVA, INC. INTRODUCES ALGORITHMIC WEB SEARCH

New Alternative Independent Search Solution Launched in Germany and France

FORT MYERS, Fla., - June 21, 2005 - MIVA, Inc. (NASDAQ: MIVA) the largest independent Performance Marketing Network in the world, today announced the launch of algorithmic web search to its distribution partners in Germany and France. In January 2005, MIVA announced it would begin to provide algorithmic search functionality to its publishing partners leveraging its licensing agreement with Fast Search & TransferTM (FASTTM).

"We understand that one search methodology does not fit all," said Tom Wilde, senior vice president and general manager North America for MIVA. "MIVA's new and fully configurable web search will enable our publishing partners to provide site inclusion and exclusion lists as well as the ability to blend search results for an optimal mix of local and global content."

For example, for the search term "Schumacher," a sports website might include links to Formula 1 racing news in the search results provided to its audience, since "Michael Schumacher" is a leading Formula 1 race car driver. In contrast, a website dedicated to film review might instead include web links to movie reviews and details about film director Joel Schumacher for the very same search term. This assures that the algorithmic web search provided on each site reflects the unique interested of its end users.

"We are excited to provide an incredible web index that web publishers can configure to their users' needs," said Dr. Andrew Ressler, vice president and general manager of Search and Directory for MIVA. "Our search technology focuses on the most commonly searched topics, with the goal of ensuring the most relevant web pages for a given keyword term appear in the top results, eliminating the need for a user to sift through several pages to find the right result."

The introduction of configurable algorithmic search will be offered in addition to MIVA's current Pay-Per-Click and Pay-Per-Call listings, broadening the total suite of monetization products available to its publisher partners.

MIVA does not compete with web publishers for Internet users as a consumer-facing search portal. For web publishers seeking a search solution under their own brand, MIVA is the largest, independent search engine alternative. MIVA's new search technology is the first of several planned product releases based on the Company's investment in algorithmic search technology.
