Each year, leaders in ecommerce, web development, business, and online retail come together from around the nation for the longest-running ecommerce convention in the country. For three days, MivaCon offers unparalleled access to key trends, networking opportunities, unique business solutions, and more—all against the beautiful backdrop of San Diego.
Whether you’ve come every year from the start or you’ve yet to step foot in our elegant beachside convention space just minutes from downtown, here are three big reasons you won’t want to miss MivaCon 2018.
1 | Come for cutting-edge education
“Having successful ecommerce stores since 2001, I still come every year and get something great out of each breakout I attend.” – ROBBY STANLEY, DirectFix
It’s no secret: ecommerce is always changing. Staying ahead of pertinent news and trends is key to succeeding in this industry.
MivaCon gathers industry leaders who are not only privy to trends, but are influencing them, themselves. The purpose? To leave you with both the motivation and tangible next steps to break through your greatest challenges and scale up business in 2018.
At MivaCon, we offer four unique ways to immerse yourself in the latest ecommerce news, insights, and trends, including:
Keynote sessions with industry influencers
Last year we invited leaders in shipping, payments, commerce strategy, branding, and more to share key insights from their spheres of ecommerce. These trendsetters came bearing industry-specific information from their own leading companies to “futureproof” business for the next decade.
Industry influencers such as Jill Rose of PayPal and Jon Reily, VP of Commerce Strategy at Razorfish left attendees riveted, humored, and served with a buffet of practical tools to elevate business—and this year promises even more invaluable insight.
Two full days of breakout sessions
It’s easy to get lost in the crowd at larger conventions. At MivaCon, we curate intimate, hour-long opportunities to get your toughest questions answered by experts you normally wouldn’t have access to.
“We have attended for the past 6 years, always get great information and help with our 4 stores.” – TIM FOGARTY, American Med Supply
Previous topics have included foundations of SEO; MivaPay and Subscription Management; Leveraging Miva’s Robust SEO Tools to Improve Rankings; Order Processing; How to Leverage Miva to Build a Dynamic B2B and B2C Ecommerce Store; Leveraging MailChimp’s Ecommerce Tools for Abandoned Baskets; Ecommerce Design & UX; Google Analytics for Miva Store Owners, and more.
This year, we’ve planned even more in-depth sessions with key players in our field. Plus, with access to the video bundle, you’ll get to bring every game-changing insight from these immersive three days back to your team.
Register for the Early Bird Ticket + Video Bundle by February 7th.
Direct access to partners and vendors
Every year, we handpick key technical partners in the most integral areas of ecommerce based on your feedback. Industry leaders like PayPal, SearchSpring, ShipStation, Avalara, Authorize.Net, and Shopper Approved fill the ballroom to help attendees leverage their services to operate business more effectively and efficiently.
One of our favorite stories from MivaCon 2017? After signing up for PayPal OneTouch™ at the PayPal booth onsite, one business owner saw a $800 increase in sales overnight!

Exciting announcements about the Miva product roadmap
Last year, Rick Wilson, CEO of Miva, Inc., Brennan Heyde, VP Developer Relations and Rich Rauser, EVP announced changes in the product and our Technical Assistance Center to deliver an elevated customer-centric experience. We also announced our Miva Town Hall events: live online events unveiling the latest from our feature-rich Miva platform and answering merchant questions live.
With the theme of “Beyond Ecommerce”, this MivaCon promises even more exciting updates than ever before—both for the product and for what’s to come in the industry as a whole.
2 | Stay for the unique individual attention
“The amount of networking opportunities is just right for the size of conference. The difference from other shows is the quality and in-depth discussions we have.” – BOB ANGUS, PayPal
At MivaCon, we pride ourselves on the careful attention we’ve carved to solve your unique business challenges in a personable and real-time setting—a privilege that doesn’t come with most conferences.
Come to MivaCon and expect:
- Networking opportunities: Meet fellow business leaders who have broken through the challenges you’re facing at complimentary breakfast, lunch, and cocktail parties throughout!
- Site reviews with Miva’s development team in the Pro Services lounge: One of our top attractions, MivaCon offers store owners and developers the opportunity to meet our Professional Services team—those who work with them every day to build and maintain their online stores. Furthermore, guests can also schedule a complimentary one-on-one consultation session, where they’ll learn new ways to drive online sales or enhance the customer experience.
- One-on-one training with Miva developers: Members of our development team will be on-hand to answer technical questions and provide quick training sessions on the robust features of the Miva ecommerce platform.
- ReadyTheme voting: As an attendee, you get to vote up the next Miva ReadyThemes that’ll elevate your store!
3 | Step out to the unparalleled city of San Diego
Of course, MivaCon is not all work without play. Held at the exquisite Hyatt Regency in the beachside town of La Jolla, CA, conference goers last year were treated to 70 degree weather and a healthy dose of vitamin D. The Blades Awards gala offers a fun, inspiring time to recognize and celebrate outstanding merchants while enjoying each other’s company. Plus, our 3-day conference starts on Wednesday, March 21 and lasts through Friday, March 23, 2018, allowing you the weekend to explore America’s Finest City from our coveted location by the beach, just 15 minutes from downtown.
As our CEO Rick Wilson said, “Vanguard ecommerce is built upon knowledge, community, and intuition.” This MivaCon, let’s go beyond what’s come before and redefine the way we do business for the economy of tomorrow—together.
