How To Create a Super-Strong Password

By now, we are sure you have heard of the Heartbleed Security Bug.  It is estimated that two-thirds of active websites were affected.  Yet, only 6% of Americans have actually changed all of their passwords.  77% of Americans have not even checked to see if they were affected by Heartbleed.

The bug called Heartbleed was discovered last week by researchers in Finland and at Google and could put tens of millions of consumers’ passwords and usernames at risk of hacking.

Researchers have found that the most popular password, found more than 15,000 times in the database “123456.”  Simple passwords, such as this one, set a dangerously low barrier for criminals to hack into important personal information.

What Constitutes a Strong Password?

Strong passwords are long and complicated and take years to crack.  It should be greater than eight characters and contain numbers, letters, symbols, and no real words.  Of course, no password is guaranteed to be hack-proof. However, taking the time to come up with a secure password is definitely worth it when you consider your whole life (or business) is up for grabs online.
