MivaCon 2013 Nominees for Most Unique Marketing Promotion

Every year, we see innovative uses of Miva Merchant software, and we are looking to highlight these new ideas.  Nominees for the Most Unique Marketing Campaign award represent Miva Merchant stores that have caught our eye with out-of-the-box thinking when it comes to reaching out to both their existing and potential customers. We want to share and showcase these Miva Merchant store owners who have achieved excellence in E-commerce.  The winner will be announced at The Blades awards banquet during our annual conference on Thursday, March 7th, 2013.  The categories for nominations include Best Use of Social Media, Best New Feature, Best Design, Most Unique Marketing Promotion, and Best New Website of 2012.  Join us at MivaCon 2013!


Started in 1997 by Aaron Glazer and Zoe Fraade-Blanar, NYC-based Squishable Inc. produces oversized, plush toys, made with only fair trade and organic materials, in unique designs that appeal to adults and children alike. Squishable.com has been nominated for Most Unique Marketing Promotion, for their Project Open Squish. Through Project Open Squish, Squishable gives their customers the opportunity to get involved in selecting the next Squishable, by voting on designs and even submitting their own!


AX Micro Solutions, Inc., a.k.a. DirectFix, began in 1998 as PowerToThePalm.com, with a focus on showing ordinary people what the inside of the latest model Palm unit looked like, how to dis- and re-assemble it, and selling the parts to fix it. Today, DirectFix sells quality repair parts and accessories for iPhone, iPad, iPod and Android phones, as well as repair services for many units. In 2002, DirectFix became the first company to offer free how-to videos, with no purchase necessary. Offering their free, branded videos on YouTube put the DirectFix name in front of millions of people, and provided a gateway to other sites and blogs that have since embedded links to DirectFix’s quality videos. In addition to the traffic and sales that are driven to DirectFix.com, as a YouTube partner the company also earns profits on the revenue generated by its videos.


When ScotteVest came into existence, just over a decade ago, their sole product was the “Scott’s Electronics Vest” (now the “ScotteVest Travel Vest”), a vest designed with hidden pockets to accommodate a plethora of electronic devices, without looking bulky, and that could be easily removed when going through airport security. ScotteVest has been nominated for a Blades Award for Most Unique Marketing Promotion for their For the Trip of Your Life Contest. HeadBlade has been nominated for a Blades Award for Most Unique Marketing Promotion, for their video, “The Shaving Helmet.”  The video, developed by viral marketing agency, Thinkmodo, quickly became a global sensation. In addition to its over 1.1 Million views on YouTube, HeadBlade’s Shaving Helmet video has also been featured by hundreds of other media outlets, including television shows and newscasts, radio programs, websites, and blogs.
