The concept for this store was born from two practicing physicians, Doctor Travis and Cheryl Adlington who have built their offline practice into a bustling office and a retail storefront that carries some of the premiere brands in eyeware. Their philosophy and success have been based on offering a unique, boutique experience to every customer, and a selection that rivals any luxury eyeware boutique in the world.

As their business has evolved and grown over the last 20 years, moving the retail boutique online seemed logical, but not just to throw products online. Rather, the goal was to create a high-touch sales experience that mimics their offline process, and offer an enormous selection of frames that simply cannot be found anyplace else. While there are 100’s of competitors online, very few have the endorsement of the brands they carry, nor do they guarantee the authenticity of the eyewear they sell. EyeglassGallery.com has been approved by all of the brands featured on the site, and the fact that the business is actually owned and operated by real doctors, with a state of the art order and lens creation process, all guarantee a high level of quality add to the unique qualities of this new web business.

What were you looking for in an online shopping cart system?

Because EyeglassGallery.com is a site that combines multiple content systems, and integrates with the offline store inventory systems, the commerce platform had to be expandable, and have no inherent feature, design, development, integration, or order processing limitations.

What do you believe is the greatest advantage of Miva Merchant?

One of the primary Miva Merchant benefits is that Miva Merchant can be an element of the site, but not take over the site. For instance, when someone hits the homepage of the site they are looking at a page generated by the FUZEblox content management system, as they navigate the site, they interact with Miva pages. When visitors take advantage of the search-forward UI design, they interact with Search Spring. But, at no point along the way is there any degradation of performance, look & feel, security, or most importantly, search indexing. The entire system works together to deliver a consistent, search-optimized user experience from end to end. This sort of advanced configuration would not be possible with most off-the-shelf shopping cart systems.
