You can probably do that with conditional style sheets provided you keep the
category code in the url.

Fw: Conditional Body Background Color
Thought I had better forward this one here too:
Is it possible to create a conditional body background? Say blue for cat1,
green for cat2, red for cat3? And can that color be carried over to products
in that category? All product screens for cat1 products would be blue, ect?
