Two Mias on one PC?

Hi folks --

I currently have uncompiled Miva Mia on my home machine for testing &
development. Now I'd like to get the VM Mia ... but is it possible to
install them both on one computer without something getting clobbered? I
don't think I'd ever need to run both at the same time, but I do want to
have both available. Will that work? Any advice on how to set it up?

Haven't done it, but as long as you set up the two as separate ports
(uncompiled port 8080, compiled port 8000, or something like that) I
would think it would work. At one time I had Apache, PWS, and
uncompiled Mia all running on separate ports on the same machine with no
problems. It *should* work...

I already installed both and all was working well. The only thing is to
choose your port (you cannot have both mia on the same port)

Two Mias on one PC?



No big deal at all. Had both installed since the first VM beta. Can't run
both on one port obviously, but no biggie otherwise.

Once you install the VM you also can add a right-click menu setup to auto
compile scripts with a right click and selecting 'compile' as an
option. Kinda handy.

Jonathan, your Windows-servers spoiled you! What is wrong with the good old
commandline?

About the original question: It is actually possible to run several virtual
machines and multiple instances Miva Mias on different ports at the same
time (using the same or different script/data directories). It's kind of
handy for example to test communication between different remote machines,
to create a pseudo "wanna-be-a-cluster" or test a fail-over logic. The only
problem is that when you test long running programs and one instance
finishes, in certain cases it also stops another process running on a
different VM (and port). Too bad....

Naw, the question was not about running both at once; just whether you
could install both on one system. He even said "I don't think I'd ever
need to run both at the same time...".

Why type a command line when a right-click will work? Just laziness... heh...

Yes- just install them. I have both on my machine without any problem.
if you want to run them at the same time, one of them will normally be
on port 80 (normal- 127.0.0.1) and the other on port 8000 (127.0.0.1:8000)
