I noticed that when I remove an item from my basket, the record still =
exits in baskets.dbf. I expected the record to be deleted from that =
table when I removed the item from my basket.

How are records "removed" from baskets.dbf? Are they marked for =
deletion some kind of way so that they do not get included in order =
    processing?

Yes, and when you pack the data, they are then removed.

    • How do you delete records from baskets.dbf?

Is there a way that I can identify that the records have been marked for
      deletion?

I am creating some functionality for my site--external to Miva--that
involves reading the baskets.dbf table using PHP. I can read the data, but
I don't know if there is a way that I can determine that a particular record
has been marked for deletion so that I do not include it in my
      functionality.

I'm not sure what you are trying to do, but you can download any of your
.dbf files and view them in a db editor that will display whether or not
a record has been deleted. DEDIT is a free program that will do this.
