Editing the "Shop Categories" mega menu

    Hello,

It has been a long time since I looked at this and cannot remember how to edit the contents of the "Shop Categories" section of the Omega menu e.g. replace the top level category "Packaging" and its sub categories with a different top level category and sub categories (that I have added to the store). I believe I have looked everywhere, but cannot find this menu. Would someone please point me in the right direction.

    Thanks,

    Pete

    Hi Pete!

Look for a Navigation Set code primary_navigation (Primary Site Navigation Bar) - but the "trigger" for it is in the Global Header along with the ReadyTheme item.

      Hi Pete,

To modify the categories displayed in the Omega Menu, navigate to ReadyTheme -> Navigation Sets -> primary_navigation. Select the item and click Edit Navigation Items.

        Hi Matt,

I don't see that. Attached is what I see. So, I do not see e.g. "Packaging" and its sub categories.

          Hi Leslie,

Thanks for that. I see how to change the format of that menu, but not the items in it e.g. replace the default "Packaging" and its sub categories (under "Tea") with something different.

Alternatively, does this menu display only the top X number of categories so if I delete enough of the default categories, some of mine will rise to the top and be displayed. Below is what I am seeing on the store page. How do I change that menu? I am darned if I can figure it out.

You need to build the menu completely on your own.

              Hi Pete,

The items in the navigation are not entered via coding. The code controls the layout, but you have to manually add/remove categories from the Edit Navigation Items window.

If the items need to change a lot, you could build a 'tool' for generating a text file with the required content, then replace the ReadyTheme Nav element with a file_read() function.

manually add/remove categories from the Edit Navigation Items window.
Where is this "Navigation Items" window? Miva Admin search doesn't know where it is. I search for for "Navigation Items" and get zero results. I search for "Navigation" and get only "Navigation Bar" and "Navigation Sets".

                          Hi Pete,

After you select the navigation set, click the third button.

So, "Our Company"? That is the 3rd navigation set. If you are referring to buttons in the Primary Site Navigation Bar, there are no items and no buttons.
