    Customizing Extensions folder

    Hi
I need to make some changes in js and css files located in the /shadows/extensions/ folder.
And I am wondering whether it is safe to do so.
Meaning is it possible that in future an update wipes out my changes from those files?
I guess not but need to be sure.

When it comes to the Elements Framework, and the ReadyThemes developed from them, it is recommended that any CSS updated be added to the theme-styles.css file to override those shipped in the core or extensions. As for JavaScript changes, that would all depend on the extent of the changes. If they are considerable, it may be better to create your own version of the file and place it within the ui/js directory.

As for handling updates, there may be updates available for various extensions as time goes by which are designed to be direct replacements for the existing version. Currently they would not be automated, so manually updating the files would be necessary. So, while not the best practice, you can edit the CSS and JS files for an extension without fear of those changes being overwritten by an update automatically.
