Easier way to activate/deactivate upsale offers

A few times a year I'll run a sale, and during that sale period I want to turn off all my upsale offers. And then, once the sale is done, I want to turn them all back on again.

Right now, it's hard to do this. Since I don't want to delete them, I go into each and change it to display the upsale when the order total is greater than $10,000. That ensures the upsale won't run because I never take orders near that amount. (But I suppose if someone wanted to place a $10,001 order during my sale period I wouldn't have an issue with them picking up an additional product at a few bucks off....)

It would be great if there were an easier to to activate and deactivate an upsale offer. Maybe a slider bar like is used to add a product to a category. Or even a Active field that could be shown in the list view and then edited in the list view like can be done with products and categories. (I see that you can show an active column in the list view for upsales, but the list view for upsales doesn't seem to be editable like it is for products and categories.)

Well, its Sunday and I spent last night celebrating my Status as a Forum God, but I'd don't think you could do anything easier than what you've outlined...How is that so difficult?

I am relatively new to M9 and I have not tried this, but what about using Content Section to display upsale offers Product Display code?

Bill, if you want the offer to appear on all product pages that this would work. But then you could do the same the in the PROD Page Header field too.

The question is what Upsell method is being used? Where are you displaying your upsells at? Are you doing something outside the box, so to speak? Or is it the default offer during the checkout process that is triggered by the order total? If that's the case, then like Bruce said, you are probably (unfortunately) doing this the best way possible.

It definitely sounds like something for the Dream Features.

Yes, I'm using the plain vanilla version of the upsale where items in the basket trigger an offer during checkout. To Bruce's point, it wouldn't be a big deal if I had two or three upsale offers to turn off. But I usually have 15-20 active at a time, and turning them all off and on again using this method takes longer than you might think. The admin UI has much easier ways to assign things to groups and to turn items active or inactive. It would be nice to have that same functionality available on upsales.

It's a really minor usability issue, in the big picture. And I think that speaks to how far the Miva admin UI has come over the years. But this is the place to dream, right?

I'm kinda wrestling with something similar, I would like to schedule on/off the display of products assigned to our Sale category page only by wrapping the Price Group Timed Promotions snippet around the Sale category CTGY page Product Display, but I have not been able to figure it out yet.

Post: How can I schedule display/hide of assigned products to a category (Sale)?

Here's how I could see these types of features being implemented. The concept is sort of like creating a Macro and tying it to the scheduler. So, you create a Macro Schedule in the scheduler, then go to any settings tab, make your selections, and click "Save Settings to Schedule X". When Schedule X is triggered by its timing settings, it makes the saves the current settings, then changes the settings to what you saved before. (On end date, it would revert...or you'd create another schedule to revert) IMO, this would quite powerful and flexible.

Interesting, we currently use Price Groups Timed Promotions conditional snippets for many things such as banners etc to simplify promotions.

In the mean time we need to figure out how to make do with what we have.

The main difference is that this would allow for changes in settings...like say you have a free shipping offer that starts at midnight and you don't want to be stay up that late.

That is one of the ways we use it with Price Groups Timed Promotion conditional snippets.
