Ability to serve multiple files for a digital download product

It would be nice if it were possible to set up and provide multiple files on a digital download product instead of only one.

Right now we either need to package multiple PDF files into a single .zip file and serve that or combine multiple files of different dimensions into a single PDF file. Neither solution is ideal, and we deal with customer service requests daily for help because either a) they try to download a .zip file to a mobile device and wonder why nothing opens or b) have trouble printing a single PDF file because the document contains pages that are different dimensions.

I've seen that one of Miva's competitors offers this functionality, and I for one would find it useful. This would allow us to serve individual PDF files of different dimensions which is what our customers prefer. Some of our competitors offer this using another e-commerce software.

I think this is just a use case we haven't considered. Normally a zip would be the preferred method here. Sounds like a lot of your customers are receiving these on mobile? Can you give me some context on how the pdfs are used?

What would you like to see here, multiple download links, one for each file?

We sell PDF sewing patterns. People download the PDF files and print them on a home printer or send very large sheets to a service bureau to print on a 36" wide printer.

Many of our customers are older and not tech savvy. A lot of this generation has ditched computers and live solely on tablets and phones. If they try to download a .zip with several PDFs inside it (sewing instructions, printing and assembly instructions, tiled pattern pieces, full-sized pattern sheet) to an iPad or phone, they don't understand why nothing shows up on their screen. But when we consolidate everything into one PDF (with instructions telling them which pages to print on a home printer and which to send to a service bureau if they want to do that), they complain because they can't split the PDF file to send just the last two pages to be printed.

It would be ideal if we could associate as many download files as we like with a digital product, give each a name, and then have the sales receipt email contain a link for each associated file with the name of the file so that they know what they are going to download and they can get files one at a time. They purchase a whole package of files, but they may not want or need to download all of them. We would want to be able to track downloads on a file by file basis and expire downloads just as we do now.

It would basically be the same as now, but allowing us to add additional files to the product instead of being limited to one.
