Crating Fee

I am trying to add a crating fee for specific products. I created a Crating Fee product, 0.00, and then used it as an addon product in Marketing/Price Groups to add the fee to applicable products. It works fine except it is not removed from the basket if the products are removed. Do I need to use one of the third party modules for this? Seems to almost work.

I guess I can add an default/required attribute to the template for this product but will leave this here as I often get ideas here I hadn't considered.
