We need to set up a flat rate of shipping for products but it needs to be based on a variant product since the variant is the size and the size dictates shipping. For example a "Medium" would be $20 in shipping, a "Large" would be $30 in shipping. There are also some products without variants that would fall into either the "Large" or "Medium" tier.
Right now we are using a weight table with arbitrary weights to properly assign Medium & Large but if someone orders multiples the calculation because inaccurate if there are a mix of different sizes, etc.
What would be the simplest way to set this up?
