Inventory Variants Image Question

When you use the Inventory Variants for the Product Attribute and add an image to each of the Variants, the image from the first Variant displays instead of the product's "main" image. Is there any way to force the product's main image to display instead of the Variant image (short of not having an image for the first variant)?
