In URI Management, what's the procedure for redirecting a deleted or deactivated product to its parent category?

I assume this has something to do with the "normal" settings but I'm afraid it's not clear in the documentation.
After deactivating a product, do I go to the category and add a "normal" link from the product page?

Just add a redirect in the URI management. Add the product URL and set the location you want it to go.
