    Product Names and Commas

Do commas have an effect on the URI...URL if there are commas in the names? I think I remember something about them being converted? I am trying to figure out if we are having an issue on a site with long product names and the short urls not being so short.

Well, I still don't know what the problem is the client is having, but I think it's certain that a slugified product name has the commas are actually ignored.

When Miva creates the sligified product name, it removes spaces, multiple dashes, commas, and other characters that should not be in the URL. That is the issue you're seeing?

I am still not sure yet why the client flagged an issue on their end. The way the uri is manifesting has appeared correct.

However, one character did create an unwanted result. A semi-colon appears to be replaced by the characters "br." If this: in the product name:
is the best; With 10 essential
        turns into:
        is-the-bestbrWith-10-essential
I don't know if this is the clients issue. This does look like it could be some sort of a problem.

i've seen clients add html to product names that would cause this as the < and > are stripped by the URI module as Brennan mentioned.
