I've written a couple of tax modules that use the SSTP servers to calculate tax for customers. If you want to discuss a project, I think you already have my email address?

      Hi Kent:
      Thanks for the reply.
I sent this on to Kirsten for her input.
Can you give us some details about what your service would provide so we can see if it might meet our needs?
We are looking for a low tec, low cost solution to sales tax calculation and payment. If you can calculate the sales tax for our sales within Miva checkout, we can get the amounts into Quickbooks for the reporting and payments to the states.

      Cheers,
      Larry

The last time I worked on SSTP, it wasn't totally standardized across all the states. So I'll need to check some documentation for your state (after you tell me which one). Basically, I'll provide a module that works just like any Miva tax module, but it doesn't have the tax rates saved in the store's database. Instead it sends requests to the state's server every time a customer checks out, to find out the correct tax rate for the customer's shipping address. If you need to save additional data for reporting or accounting purposes, the module can do that too, probably by creating custom order fields.

          Hi Kent:
We are looking for a solution for all states having sales tax except for our own. We have a working solution for our own state.
We would want sales tax calculations on a select set of states (defined in a table or somewhere) where our sales need to charge sales tax. We have no need for additional data or reporting as we will accomplish that ourselves via Quickbooks.
