    Complex Coupon Needed

Currently, the store is using the EmporiumPlus Coupon Redemption module, but if this is doable with the built-in Marketing Price Groups Coupons, I would be willing to insist on a changeover.

The coupon needs to be able to discount 2 products to a fixed price (the products have Inventory Variant pricing), plus offer free shipping but must be able to exclude products from the free shipping. The coupon must also be limited to one per customer. The one per customer should not be able to be circumvented by placing a second order using a different email address.

The later one could be a deal breaker as unless each code is unique, it can't really be done. (Also, this scenario fails my "if its hard to understand how to build, customers aren't going to understand how to use it either" rule.

Hmmm...on the customer end - it will be a single coupon code that gets entered into the Coupon Code redeem field at checkout. Not sure what is hard to understand about that...

I guess they "assumed" it could be done because I'm able to set up a monthly sale that has free shipping (which is restricted) and can have more than one product (with attributes) - no coupon needed.

If either product can be ordered with free shipping, but no other product get free shipping then you can just use Shipping Methods (Free Shipping Promo - Flat Rate- $0.00) to assign that to those products. But if they order any other product, those products could effect shipping rates.

As for the second part. There's no actually way to do this without unique codes. I suppose you could use (or the coupon module supports) things like setting a cookie, or tying it to an email, but using a second email or different browser (or killing the cookie) negates it. Now, A LOT OF shoppers are not that savvy, but its not going to be fool proof.

Ah okay. I'm sort of agreeing with you here that most customers may not know how to scam the system. This was the first time I saw it happen.

So if the requirement to prevent multiple usages was removed. I would still need to be able to offer two products at a specific price when the coupon is used. I don't think either coupon method can offer this. I don't think the shipping would be an issue, I'll double-check but I think it would be free shipping for the entire order except if they ordered the products that need to be excluded from the free shipping.

This is from memory, but doesn't Weiland's module have a method of discounting based on "COST", you could use that field to control the differences in the fixed discount for each product. For example, if the products are $20 and $30, and the desired discount is $5 and $10 dollars, then you set cost to be $15 and $20 and discount "0" from cost in the module.

              I don't think there is.

Perhaps you were thinking of "tiers"?

I'm wondering if this might be easier to do if it were an actual price group? Since the coupon is sent to a select group of customers, maybe that could be a way to go...
