Replacing Main Image with Java Rollovers

I am looking to create an effect similar to:

I have seen it done at:

I use Product Page Templates by Viking.
I can easily rename my images to PRODUCT_X.jpg to make this work.
Some products I have 2 pictures, some I have 1, and some I have 3, so
there has to be a if/then routine to display just what I have.

Any suggestions, help?
