orders out of order?

I don't know if this is normal and I never noticed before but...

I have orders that seem to be assigned order numbers out of order

Order Number: 3533
Placed: 05/06/2005 14:40:14 EDT

Order Number: 3535
Placed: 05/05/2005 16:16:37 EDT

Order Number: 3536
Placed: 05/05/2005 16:19:00 EDT

Order Number: 3537
Placed: 05/06/2005 20:39:00 EDT

Order #3534 does not seem to exist. Is this because it was abandoned =
after starting the check out procedure?
Why is order #3533 assigned to an order that came in AFTER orders #3535 =
and #3536?

Any thoughts / help would be appreicated. My day has been rough enough =
already without this to worry about. lol

orders out of order?



The way I understand it is that the order numbers are assigned well before
checkout -- so abandoned orders won't show up and they can come in out of
sequence depending on when the person completes the checkout.
