    Hello,

I recently purchased the "designer's dream" bundle from Viking Coders
(actually from designextend). I have one main question. How do I make my
    SFNT page a universal template?

I do not like the navbar or the category tree that comes from miva, so I
designed my own. I had to create my own front page template utilizing the
new zone option. I created a left zone, and that is where my custom java
menu resides. I have the category tree and navbar switched to off within
the storefront template options. So when I click on any button to take me
to another page, it automatically replaces my menu and navbar with the ugly
stock ones. The problem is, that this design is only applied to the home
page, and I want the design to be universal on EVERY page.

The last site I built, I used Dynamic MMUI from Copernicus. I really liked
the way it worked, in that I could code the page. It also had an option to
shut off the stock category tree, and replace it with your own. I just
copied and pasted everything from my SFNT template to all the others, and
just inserted the token for the page information in the blockquote part of
the page, and everything worked great. Basically, I want to know how to do
this with the Viking Coders templates.

I either need to know how to accomplish what I've been talking about, or I
need to know where the code for the navbar and menu are. If I could just
rework the code on the navbar, that would be one of my problems solved. The
other would then be the menu.

A workaround for the navbar could be to completely shut it off and place my
navbar within the global header, but I don't know how to completely shut it
    off.

    Any insight is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    KC

Help with VC page templates please

I would like a left side vertical menu. If I put it in the header, there
will be a blank area in the middle/right side of the page.... I want that
          content to be dynamic.

Is there a way to do this without buying yet another module? I understood
when I bought VC's templates that I would have "full control over all pages
in your store". It seems as if that is not the case...

Same thing. Just disable the category tree along with the nav bar and add
your own code to the global header. That's exactly what I've done in my
store. If there are any screens where you don't want one or more of those
elements to appear you can use OUI tokens to control that.

Okay, what you did is exactly what I want to do. I'm not quite
understanding how you did that though(nice site btw). If I put it in the
global header, everything on all my other pages starts below the code in the
header right? How did you get the content to dynamically display right of
              the menu?

I'm confused, but thankful you guys are answering. try to be patient with
              me. Thanks!

Same thing. Just disable the category tree along with the nav bar and add
your own code to the global header. That's exactly what I've done in my
store. If there are any screens where you don't want one or more of those
elements to appear you can use OUI tokens to control that.

Okay, Thanks, what about the menu?

Now all I need is to figure out how to get my custom menu on every page...

code that uses OUI tokens a while back - I'll have to dig around for it.

Actually, I have a cat tree that I built in FireWorks. It's just your
standard graphic menu with popout categories. I just need to know how to
display MY menu on every page while having my dynamic content display
directly to the right of it. I may be missing something obvious. I haven't
designed a site in about a year, and I'm finding that it is not like riding
                  a bike...

                  Thanks!

Ahhh, you are not wanting to replace the cat tree. Are you trying to
replace the nav bar or will this be in addition to all the MM dynamic
stuff? You want to put a column directly to the right side of the MM cat
                    tree.

Help with VC page templates please

The trick is to end your global header and start your global footer with the
appropriate html so that the "body" of your pages ends up inside a table
cell to the right of your new cat tree.

Your exact layout will depend on how you code the content of your headers
but you'll generally want your new cat tree to start with <TR><TD> and end
with </TD><TD>. Then start your global footer with </TD</TR></TABLE>. That
will put your cat tree in the left cell of a new row under your nav bar, the
page body automatically goes in the right cell of the same row, and the code
in the footer closes the table and then continues with whatever other code
(if any) you need to display there.

As I said though, you'll need to adjust that some depending on your code but
the above is the general idea of what you're looking for.

Help with VC page templates please

I am wanting to replace the tree, with the one that I made in Fireworks.
I've already figured out the navbar issue, I just shut the stock one off,
and put the navbar I created in the header. Since it is horizontally
oriented, that is no problem. Others have kindly suggested I do the same
thing with the menu (shut it off on all pages and put the code for it in the
header). But what I'm not understanding, is that the menu is a left side
vertical menu, and I want my content to display as it would if I had the
stock cat tree on. I don't understand how to accomplish this when all the
dynamic content is displayed below the global header code. In my mind, I'm
seeing a big white blank area to the right of the menu, and the content
displayed below it and across the whole page, this is not what I want to do.
Am I correct in assuming this is what would happen? And if so, what's the
                        workaround?

                        Thanks again

                        KC

Ahhh, you are not wanting to replace the cat tree. Are you trying to
replace the nav bar or will this be in addition to all the MM dynamic
stuff? You want to put a column directly to the right side of the MM cat
                        tree.

I missed a closing bracket in the code below. That should be:

                          Global Header:
Nav bar code (within a table ending with </TR>)
                          <TR><TD>cat tree</TD><TD>

dynamic Merchant page body (by default)

                          Global Footer:
                          </TD></TR></TABLE> any additional footer code.

Okay, what you did is exactly what I want to do. I'm not quite
understanding how you did that though(nice site btw). If I put it in the
global header, everything on all my other pages starts below the code in the
header right? How did you get the content to dynamically display right of
                          the menu?

I'm confused, but thankful you guys are answering. try to be patient with
                          me. Thanks!

Same thing. Just disable the category tree along with the nav bar and add
your own code to the global header. That's exactly what I've done in my

That's the workaround I've been looking for. I'll give it the ol' college

I missed a closing bracket in the code below. That should be:

                            Global Header:
Nav bar code (within a table ending with </TR>)
                            <TR><TD>cat tree</TD><TD>

dynamic Merchant page body (by default)

                            Global Footer:
                            </TD></TR></TABLE> any additional footer code.

Okay, what you did is exactly what I want to do. I'm not quite
understanding how you did that though(nice site btw). If I put it in the
global header, everything on all my other pages starts below the code in the
header right? How did you get the content to dynamically display right of
                            the menu?

I'm confused, but thankful you guys are answering. try to be patient with
                            me. Thanks!

Same thing. Just disable the category tree along with the nav bar and add
your own code to the global header. That's exactly what I've done in my
store. If there are any screens where you don't want one or more of those

What you need to doing is what I think of as "wrapping" a table. You start
the table with two columns (the left column will contain your dynamic cat
tree - the right column will be empty) in the Global Header. You will
actually "break" the table - leaving the final </td></tr></table> off and
adding it in the Global Footer to close the table.
