Re: Re: Re: Hostasaurus Rocks!
I'm new to online retail, but I've been both a client and a vendor in other industries for a number of years and I think the important lesson anyone trying to establish themselves in this arena should take away is this: The U.S. hasn't been a manufacturing based economy for decades. We are solidly service-based. As a vendor, all you have have to offer your clients is service. Those who go the extra mile, do the follow ups, and do it for the best price will get the repeat customers.
For instance, I purchased the "E-Commerce Made Easy" book. As instructional books go, it's a little light weight- more or less the Miva help pdfs printed out, which is convenient, if not overly insightful. However, the publisher of that book offers extras to registered users as a selling point. Twice I've tried to register my copy unsuccessfully and twice I've posted messages on their site informing them of the broken link. I've heard nothing back from them.
This publisher also sells modules at their site. But when it came time for me to order some modules, where do you suppose my money went?
As long as you are selling something that the customer can get anywhere else, you'd better be doing everything you can to inspire them to give their money to you.
