OT: USPS Click n Ship vs Endicia/Stamps.com

I was thinking about creating an account with Stamps.com or Endicia, then
decided to check out the site for the USPS. Maybe I've had my head stuck in
the sand, but I didn't know about ClickNShip. It appears ClickNShip does
everything Endicia and Stamps.com do, but without the $15/month price tag.
Now I'm wondering why should I spend the money with the other companies if
USPS offers the same thing without the monthly charge, or are the other
services easier to use? Has anyone used ClickNShip from USPS?

Last time I looked into USPS Click n Ship, you couldn't run a batch and had
to put your credit card number in for each package, i.e. like each one was a
separate sale...after about 3-4 of those, my credit card company would shut
down the account because of multiple charges from the same source in short
order. This was awhile back and may have changed by now -- but it was MOST
inconvenient! I use Stamps.com and love it because I can now insure
packages through them instead of USPS and they pay claims much faster! I've
seen USPS take up to 18 months to pay claims.

Last I checked, which was approx. two months ago, you couldn't upload
addresses onto the website. It would have to be done manually. However,
you can with their software (Shipping Assistant), which would be installed
on your PC. With USPS' Shipping Assistant you can track shipments, view
pricing, etc. except for payment, which you would need to do at the USPS
        counter.

One thing about USPS, they are lousy when it comes to scanning your
"Delivery Confirmation" & "Signature Confirmation" labels. 15% - 20% of the
packages never show as delivered. That is why we have transfered all of our
shipment to Fedex & UPS, except for PO Box addresses.

I would like to add to my previous comments that even though the packages
don't show as delivered, the majority of them become actually delivered.
But that doesn't help much especially when you receive a charge-back and you
need to show proof of delivery.
