Force Login/Create Account & Limit Access to only certain products or Categories

Does anyone know if there's a way to force a customer to login or create
    an
account (before allowing them to view any store categories or products)
    AND
only assign them access to a specific category (or product if possible)
which they are also forced to choose at the time of creating an account?
It's crucial that they be forced to create a separate account for every
category (or product if possible) they want to view. Thanks!

    Cheers, Sean

    Hi Sean,

Not knowing your exact application and reasoning- let me suggest an
alternative. There could be reasons you don't want this that I'm just
    not aware of yet...

Why not use availability groups? You can then have all of your products
in specific groups (potentially mirroring categories, or even just a
single availability group per product). Then customers won't see anything
until they log into an account that has the proper avail group permissions.

You can progressively add the customer into the necessary avail groups so
they can see the products that you want. This will keep them from having
to create separate accounts for each product they want to purchase.

Then use some form of automated mechanism to get the customers into the
correct avail groups. For example, the Membership SuperMod can be used to
control what groups are available to what customers. Customers can either
use a designated "signup code" to get into the group, or even "purchase"
    a membership in the group.

    Regards,
    James
