Affiliate sessions -- why does it keep growing? We're using Affiliate Manager

We're using Viking Coders Affiliate Manager, which apparently does not use
affsess.dbf. Yet affsess.dbf keeps growing. A lot. Does anyone know why this
is and whether I should do anything with it? Is it okay to just empty it
    periodically?

    Thanks!

This is a known bug in a few versions of Miva Merchant. It started with
4.12, was fixed in 4.13, and was reintroduced in 4.14, fixed in 4.16,
and seems it re-appeared again in 4.18.

It also can be a problem if you've upgraded from a buggy version and
    never 'cleaned out' the affsess.dbf.

What version are you currently running?

We're using 4.20 -- which is also the version we started with, so it
      probably isn't the upgrade problem.

So this file really isn't important? If not, I guess we'll periodically
blank it out and not worry about it.

Once again, they are wrong. They always seem to want to blame third
party modules rather than look at the real cause of the problem. They
fixed it once, and keep breaking it!

Download affsess.dbf and open it in dbfutils. Use the zap command close
and re-upload it. (Make a back up first) then pack your store.

If it still grows in a few days, download the patched db.mvc from Miva's
support FTP site then repeat the above. That should fix it.

This probably doesn't help much but I also have 4.20 and have the exact
same problem. Miva support says no one but me has this problem with 4.20
so it must be due to a third party module even though I don't use the
built in affiliate function and have no modules for an affiliate program
either. Apparently, they think it's a coupon module or something that
causes this but I haven't been able to isolate anything that does it. It
just continues to grow with no end in sight.

Thanks, Vic. I have been periodically replacing the database with a blank
copy but I wasn't aware of the patched db.mvc. It seems odd that Miva
support wasn't aware of their own patch if this is indeed the problem but
            I'll check it out.

Affiliate sessions -- why does it keep growing? We're using Affiliate Manager

              Bill,

Just to be clear, I said "coupon module" just as an example. Miva only said
a third party module was causing it but they didn't specify any particular
type of module. Since I don't have a module that should be doing anything at
all with any affiliate databases, that didn't exactly narrow things down for
me so it could have been a coupon module as easily as anything else.

Vic just posted a message about a patch for this though so take a look at
his message if you haven't already. I don't know why Miva doesn't know about
their own patches but, hopefully, it will take care of this once and for
              all.

I have 4.20 also and it keeps on growing and growing and growing. It gets
so big it doesn't pack or anything. Only solution I've found is to replace
it with a "fresh" version occasionally. It grew even when I didn't have a
              coupon module.
