    Quick Question about Storeman Advanced

    Hi all,

Got the Storeman shipment today. I know how to global price change, but
my question now is, is there an easy way to revert back to original
pricing once the "sale" is over or no? All my CDs range from
$10.99-14.99 so it's not a set amount. I will be changing them all to
$9.99 for the sale. Just curious, thanks!

Also, is there an official Storeman forum or no?

There is an easy way to change prices for a storewide sale. It takes a
few seconds to apply the sale prices to the whole store with a start and
end date. Anytime after the sale, it takes a few seconds to change the
    databases back.
The following line *#1|+|10%#0#20031209:-5#20031210:-5 run through the
Volume Price import module will apply a 10% sale price (strike thru
included) to 700+ products in 2 seconds. The sale would run from Dec 9,
2003 to Dec 10, 2003 and would end at midnight Eastern time in the USA.
When you wanted to clear the database, the following line *## would wipe
out all sale discounts in a couple seconds. An example of the sale is
    at <A HREF ="http://www.emporiumplus.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc for a little while">http://www.emporiumplus.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc for a little while</A>
    longer.

      Quick Question about Storeman Advanced

      Two ways,

      1) do an Export from the Product Editor to a txt file and after the price change and sale,
      reimport it.
      2) do the change, and when the sale is over, use the Update Utilities Restore feature to
change it back (then download the reverted files back into StoreMan.

Personally I'd do 1 and 2, make a backup, then use #2 to revert back the prices, having
the backup backup of #1 just in case you need to make other adjustments through StoreMan
      during the sale.

As for forums, there are none really. (Its a toss up between the Balkinizing Merchant
related discussions and having the Merchant User list be everyone's tech support forum.

That being said, StoreMan usage questions can be posted here as a lot of List users are
StoreMan users, however, we do ask that "support" questions be asked directly as this
isn't a "storeman support" forum. We are pretty good at answering support questions, even
      "after hours"<G>.

But that wouldn't set all the prices to 9.99...come to think about it, neither would our
global price change feature in StoreMan, since it also applies either a fixed or set
increase or decrease to all products currently assigned to the "filtered" group. (You can
say change prices only on products that are "cds".)

However, since StoreMan is a full featured content management system, their is a pretty
        simple way to do this.

Click Export from the Product editor and choose to export products to an excel file. (Save
a copy of the excel file as a backup.) Then, in the Price field, type 9.99, then drag the
cell selection box to the end of the file, and release. Now all your products are set to
9.99, import (directly from excel) upload and update and your done.

(When the sale is finished, just use the Restore Feature in the StoreMan Update Utility.)

Volume Pricing (VP) can set the price as a percent discount or a fixed
price. If all he sells is CDs, a global change could be done by
storeman or VP. If not, then the import file for either storeman or VP
would be done the same way, ie only include those items to be put on
          sale.

The modification to the database is different. Storeman is changing the
actual price in the product record. Volume pricing is changing the
discount price in a related database. By doing that, VP can 1) allow or
disallow price group customers to see the sale, 2) automate start and
stop dates so restore at a particular time is not needed, 3) vary the
discount if more than one of an item are purchased, 4) moving the full
database between server and PC is not necessary, 5) built in strike
          thru.

There are other ways of doing a sale without changing prices or
uploading files. Simply use an inexpensive module to apply a percentage
discount which can be by category, eg CDs only. But percentage would
not apply the $9.99 price in the above example.

So many ways to get there! The key is to make it easy, quick, and
minimal chance of error. The fewer steps, the better.

Very cool. I had indeed filtered using cd- to make them all $9.99 ...
But this Excel solution seems easierfor restoring. Thanks!
