It is not unusual for certain domains to reject pings (try microsoft.com,
for example). This is done for security and performance reasons. In this
case, it is best to use a "tracert" instead of ping.

In this case, there is a valid problem with PayPal. Their secure address is
working which is why payments are being processed but they're having
problems with <A HREF ="http://www.paypal.com. I emailed them yesterday evening and">http://www.paypal.com. I emailed them yesterday evening and</A>
found this response this morning:

"Dear Dan,

Thank you for contacting PayPal.

Our engineers are aware of this problem, and are working diligently to
correct this. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have
experienced.

We are suggesting that you try to access our site by using
https://www.paypal.com

We're aware of the logout issue too and it's been escalated. For now,
you need to just click the "X" on the window to close the window out.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us
again.
