    Script guide for mvm5

    Hello 'Miva,

I've looked around the Miva website, and have not found what I am
looking for. I was wondering if there was a script reference guide
    for 5.

Since I was not party to the beta development of 5, does anyone have
a list of tags I can peruse? Or is that in violation of the
    agreement?

Well, hardly a guide, but this will give you a pretty good idea of
what you can add to your 4.x docs:

        Hello Bill,

Gee, quite a bit more extensive than what was in the release note for
miva - but not _quite_ what I was hoping for - If you get my drift.

Thank you mr Guindon (one of the many bill's we all get on this list

          Hello Bill,

          It's not your fault but:

implements most of the ISO SQL92
standard, and the LEFT OUTER JOIN syntax of ISO SQL99

just makes me giggle in it's utter lack of complexity.

I can relate, there's as much promise as there is confusion on that
page. I'd love to see it converted to a documentation format.

No problem. This was linked off of the page mentioned in Miva's
"Empressa 5" announcement. Strangely enough, it seems that they have
made this information public, but kept those who are under the beta
NDA from discussing the new features.

Miva, if you're listening... "LET OUR PEOPLE GO!". At least start
dropping portions of the NDA as you make the information public.

              Hello Bill,

I know I am getting repetitive, but thank you. I have no reason to
install the full version of empressa at this point, and looking there
for documentation was a bit surprising to me.

Guess I need to convert a box at the house, if I want to continue to
              play in this old sandbox.

They've been using the release notes as documentation for a couple
years now, I'm hoping that will change soon. Either way, you should
always look to them to find out if/how the language has changed.

Their announcement was "MIVA Empresa Virtual Machine 5 - Now
Available". Without a "Miva Mia 5", or a "MIva Compiler 5", it seems
there's little you can do with it besides running 4.x code.

I stand corrected, Mia 5 is available as well if you choose "Miva Mia"
                  from the dropdown here:

                      Hello Bill,

I am sorry I was not more clear. I downloaded the available Mia 5.1,
it did not contain any useful information in the release note. I will
watch the empressa release notes for updates.

It's truly a moot point until the 5x compiler is available for public
release. I was just updating my text editor, and was thinking of
including the new functions in it.

Hang in there - your requests are not falling on deaf ears.

I am working on the end-user information (which will all be easily
available as online Help, rather than collections of PDFs, BTW). As soon
as I've got that completed I'll be moving on to the developer
documentation. It won't be just release notes, I promise.

Writing as fast as I can,
                        Linda

                            Script guide for mvm5

                            Nerd Boy asked:
" Are you saying there will be no PDF's and such? Just help from
                            within=20
                            Miva Merchant?"

                            ---
There will eventually be focused guides covering specific, more advanced
tasks, and those may be available as PDFs. But for the basics, like
"What are affiliates, and how do I set them up?"
                            (<A HREF ="http://www.miva.com/docs/merc_5.x_help/aflt.html) - things people need">http://www.miva.com/docs/merc_5.x_help/aflt.html) - things people need</A>
to know right away, while working on their store, that will all be
available right from MIVA Merchant, as Help topics. =20

Each page links to the Index of Help Topics
                            (<A HREF ="http://www.miva.com/docs/merc_5.x_help/helptopics.html), so information">http://www.miva.com/docs/merc_5.x_help/helptopics.html), so information</A>
                            is easy to find. =20

Topics also link to related topics, and reference information. For
instance, the Help topic you'd get from the Products screen is:
                            <A HREF ="http://www.miva.com/docs/merc_5.x_help/pbed.html">http://www.miva.com/docs/merc_5.x_help/pbed.html</A>
and it links, under Related Topics, to the information on adding and
                            editing products.

BTW, each topic also tells the user how to access the feature of MIVA
Merchant 5 being discussed, in case they have found the Help topic, but
not the screen where the task can be accomplished.

The Reference Information, such as a glossary, and topics covering
aspect of the UI found throughout the administration interface, is
listed at the bottom of each topic.

For more info (Help about Help):
