Hello from Rip Van Winkle (ssoss)
Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for writing back. In the old days, I was starving with 2 kids and
lots of other troubles related to running my own business. I remember
reaching out and you had offered me some help. Thank you very much for
that, it was encouraging. I've been able to eek my way out of disaster
and secure a permanent job, but I sure do feel compassion for every
e-commerce virgin just getting his/her feet wet with Miva. I hope things
are still going well in the Hosting sector.=20
Keep in touch if you want to talk MS BS - speaking of which, don't judge
my MS work by the front page of our website, I have yet to touch it
after nearly 3 years with this company. But, you can see my work here:=20

I'm not looking for side-work right now, but as always I love to show
off so I welcome ASP questions and stuff. I also love a good debate so
if anyone wants to talk MS vs. MV scripting, let me know.
Cheerios.

Welcome back Andrew! Most of the "old boys" are still here, but some of
them have drifted off to new ventures.
Good to have you back, regardless.

Hello from Rip Van Winkle (ssoss)
Hey Everybody,
I posted this to Merchant users but I remember some coder folks don't
read it often so I'm reposting here...
I'm Andrew, you might remember me from SSOSS. I thought I'd drop by
since it's been a long, long time since I was here (about 2 years).
What's up in MivaLand?
I saw a few familiar names posting... Bruce, Leslie, etc. Hi guys! Who
else is still around? Bill? Bill W? Pamela? Jonathan? Chris?=20
Well, I miss my Miva friends, but I've moved on to other things. I've
joined "the dark side" and have devoted my entire coding existence to
Microsoft's ASP VBScript and VB.NET languages, but Mivascript was the
stepping stone that made it possible by providing an environment and a
support community that helped me learn basic web coding techniques.
I've looked into DotNetNuke and various shopping cart functionality for
MS servers, and despite the obvious and many weaknesses of the Miva
scripting language, I have to say that I have not yet found a decent
solution FOR e-commerce that matches the power and extensibility of
Merchant and the module community supporting it.
I won't be much help with MivaScript around here, but I'll be lurking
(and cross-posting) just to get my head out of work once in a while.
Anyone recommend a good list serve for ASP and .NET issues?
So it would be nice to hear from anyone who remembers me and...
Happy New Year!
