    Hello group,

I need help with the following:

I created a database that capture the month, date and year values
through individual dropdown menus and stores them in different database
fields. How can I gather all 3 values and convert them to the number of
    seconds since January 1, 1970?

I've been struggling with this and can't seem to figure out how to do
this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Cindy :o)

Thank you this worked perfectly. I don't know why I didn't see it in the
    book. :o)

    Thanks again,

to all the lazy developper on the list :)

        Hello everybody ..

"Rule #1: The best programmers are lazy people..." .. said one of them ..
:) So I invite every lazy developer to send me by e-mail his free scripts
that he want to post on the mivascript.org community website. If the
developer account is not created I'll create it for him and I'll post the
script for him. After that I'll send every developer their login and
password by e-mail so he can modify or delete his posted scripts if he
        wants..

So: [email protected] is waiting for your scripts. The format of the
e-mail (the * filed is optional):

        [Developer Name]
        [Name of the script]
        [Description of the script]
*[Demo url of the script] - If you have
        *[License type] (GNU, shareware, other...)
        *[License text]
        [YOUR SCRIPT]

Thank you again for the participation.. I know nobody have the time for the
community, but I recall you that is in our interest to make it live!

          question ..

Ok .. I think you had enough with the mivascript.org posts.. but
unfotunately I must continue .. (till I have at least some responses :)

I have some archives with the best posts I saw on the miva-users list
(generally I keep all the intersting posts). I would like to post on the
mivascript.org those intersting posts. Are you agree with this? I thought
that it will be complicated if I have to ask each person if he give me the
permission to re-post his message... What do you think?

          Best regards,
          Claudiu

            Hi Claudiu,

As far as I know the posts you don't need the explicit consent from the
different authors - however you'll need a clear permission from Miva Corp to
use them on your website. They do have the copyright!

Send an email to Jimmy or Wayne from Mivasupport ([email protected]),
maybe they will forward the email to the right person at Miva Corp /
            FindWhat.

I have some free scripts and other resources on my website, so feel free to
link to them if you want. However, I would not like them to be copied to any
3rd party website. That would complicate the code maintenance,
modifications, additions, retracting, and other aspects.

You would need Miva's permission to rebublish the "messages", however, you
would not need their permission to publish the essense of the message. If
you attribute the source to the poster, and since it was posted on a public
list, you would not need the persmission of the original author. Although if
I would leave the "Query" part of the message as unattributed in case
                      someone gets embarressed.

(Warning, I am not a lawyer...nor do I play one on TV, I do have a lawyer
friend who is in IP law, but he'd pretend he didn't know me if he knew what
                      I was writing.)

                        question ..

I think it is rather understandable reaction, and I would not expect any
response unless Claudiu manages to get hold directly the CEO of Miva. And
very likely even the CEO would have to consult it first with FindWhat and/or
with their legal advisers before giving the green (or red) light. You
certainly cannot expect any comment from Jimmy or any other employee of Miva
                        - that's surely not something in their competence. And as for the big
bosses, the topic will surely remain unimportant and will never reach them
unless the website starts to trigger huge traffic (what I am afraid won't be
the case), or unless it starts to interfere with Miva's policies in some
                        way.

Knowing Miva's reaction to the use of their brand in various domain names in
the past, the latter is more probable, but since Claudiu is not located in
the USA, the legal situation would be certainly more complicated.

I suggest to place your questions again in public on all three mailing
lists, and cc groupsupport. It's very disappointing to see that you are not
getting any answer at all to your efforts.

                        Hi Markus

You're right.. but this is what I wanted to avoid :) I sent at least 4
e-mails last time to ask permission for the mivascript.org use and no
response... So I think I'll let it down ...

                        Best regards,

                          question ..

I'm almost positive content of e-mail messages posted on any open group =
                          is
                          in the public domain.

Simply put: if Miva didn't write it and didn't buy it, it's not theirs.
