    Where is everyone

I have been watching the posts on this list dwindle the last few days, I'm
just wondering if everyone is on vacation or if there is no one left with
    questions to post.

    Where is everyone

I'm here. I'm just overloaded with Perl assignments so I haven't been =
    working on Miva lately. :)

      Frank,

I would tell you the ship is sinking, but then again I should probably refrain....god only knows ya'll haven't listened yet...and I ahve been saying the same things for years now...(check the archives).

While your still flush with income from the merchant sales, you might want to consider open sourcing the engine...with PHP and ASP running amuck...I don't see how you expect Miva to do much more than a small time niche product...and from all indications, anyone can develope a merchant application and Yahoo has proven that it can't really be vaiably/reliably provided for cheap web hosting accounts (so Yahoo/Geocities can't add it as a add-on feature).

Oh well. Miva continues to be entertaining to watch. You would be amazed at how successful my posts have been off-line.

No we all busy packing our orders or trying to fix sites that are down
during the busiest e-commerce time of the year...which brings me to my
question for you...in all seriousness, why was 3.0 released now, while
most of us are either feverishly working on client's stores, packing
boxes, or heck, spending time with the family? Why not wait a few
weeks and release it after the first of the year?

Your reason to wait escapes me... Why not let them release asap, and YOU can
wait to install it when you're not so busy? Why hold up the whole client
              base?

I thought that releasing it now was a rather good idea. People don't =

probably won't until there's a new feature that they see and say, "Hey =
                  - that's pretty peachy-keen. I'd like that!" (Well, maybe not =

I spent quite a bit of time in forums explaining why member cgi wouldn't be a good idea. I was given plenty of support evidence
when a rogue script wiped out 10,000 accounts on NZ's leading ISP's hosting farm - and those guys charged $50 to mount a

I have to agree here, there is really no must have in 3.0 that I can see.
My 2.22 store already has EVERY single feature that 3.0 has. I will be
upgrading in March and even then only so that I can trim down on some of the
modules I am running and take advantage of the fact they are now built into
Merchant. If you do think there is something peachy in 3.0 you can probably
find a module for 2.x that will do the same thing.

Just my 2 cents, take 'em or leave 'em I have plenty more :)

eGads! You suffered through being a CL too? I was Liaison of Heartland for
longer than I care to remember... Boy have I grown in my web expertise

                          Tami,
Hmm, I've never hosted at Cybrmall, so I don't know their setup. You =
may want to check the permissions and make sure your forms are allowed =
to use sendmail. I assume you've made an error before to make sure the =
error logs are working? The e-mail address shouldn't really screw =
things up unless it's got some funky characters in it that aren't =
e-mail-address-friendly. That sounds like something you should take up =
with your sysadmin. Hope you get it worked out.

Well, we (Yahoo! Website Services) do of course... as long as the CGI
script is written in Miva. :)

This is kind of funny... every new mailing list support person from miva
corp. makes the same mistake. You guys should put in your training manual,
"Rule Number One: Never complain about a quiet list!" :)
