Accounting Details

Hi Rich,

The COGS account will only be updated with the products Cost from Miva
Merchant if you are either 1. using the Inventory Tracking on those products
that's built-in to Miva Merchant or 2. have the "Track Cost for
non-inventory items" box checked in under Properties: Products in Miva
Synchro.

1) After extensive testing, I have discovered the following:

Within QB's item list, each product had, as it's associated account, the "MM
Deposit" account. Not claiming to be a QB expert, I do not know how the
associated account works for the products. However, when I changed the
associated account for each product to "MM Income", the Synchronization
process appeared to CORRECTLY update eacxh account: "MM Deposit", and "MM
Income" as follows:
The "MM Depost" account was updated with the full price that the customer
paid, including taxes and shipping.
The "MM Income" account was updated with the price minus taxes and shipping
(I think).

Note: I created and named QB accounts specifically for Miva Synchro. For
example, my qb account named "MM Deposit" is the account I set as Synchro's
Deposit account on the order properties page., ...etc. This makes debugging
much easier and decreases the chance of corrupting the company books (QB
Data file).

2) My next question is, how do I incorporate COGS?
Currently I have synchro configured to NOT synchronize products or
customers. Additionally, I have the COST for each product on my mm web site
set to $0.00. Also, the products are "Non Inventory Items" in QB, even
though I am tracking inventory on them, and theor attribute/options using
Inventory Trk Pro. When I download orders, my MM COGS account does not get
updated.
How should the MM COGS account be affected/operate with Miva Synchro?

I am using Synchro 1.6 with QB Pro 2004 and downloading Oreders as Sales
Receipts.

I set Synchro to NOT synchronize Products.
I set Synchro to NOT synchronize Customers.

When orders are downloaded, they show up in the Miva Synchro Deposit account
as follows:
Price for each item the customer ordered the price (minus taxes and S&H I
think) appears in the Payment Column in QB as a pos number, and in the
balance column as a neg number.

The end result is that the net total balance for the depost account is equal
to the total for S&H for all the orders.

Can you explain why it is like this? Does NOT synchroniing products have
something to do with it? Nothing seems to be going into the COGS or Income
accounts.
