    Speed of Synchronization

Synchronizing orders (evn just 1 or 2) with QuickBooks 2004 Pro data
file was extremely slow. In an attempt to speed it up, I condensed the
QuickBooks file to keep only the data since 1JAN2002. Synchronization
was faster but still SLOW; making it very annoying.

??? Can anyone explain how Miva Synchro does what it does? i.e. what is
it doing/searching through in QB? Is it going through every single QB
invoice for each Miva order? ...etc. If I (We) understand how it is
doing what it does, than maybe we can optimize it's performance.

    Thanks,=20

    Hi Rich,

With each order Miva Synchro adds to QuickBooks, it first needs to query
QuickBooks to see if that order number already exists. If you have a high
volume of orders in QuickBooks already, this process can take a long time.

        Hi Rich,

        1. If the order already exists, Miva Synchro will skip the order from
        Miva
Merchant and go on with the next one in the list.

        2. Unfortunately, there's no way to bypass the order number querying.
However, there are many other factors that can cause the time increase.
QuickBooks doe s a lot of data processing when adding a new order.

        3. Their QuickBooks may be faster for other reasons, like more system
resources, less data to process, etc. Removing the "mm" prefix shouldn't
have much effect on the speed of order synchronization.

        4. It depends on what you are trying to do. We really don't have
        recommended
settings for QuickBooks since every user's instance is unique. You can't
really find two people using QuickBooks the same way. Everyone's
        business is
        different.

        1) What happens if the Miva order number already exists in QB? Does the
Synchro process abort with error? ...hang, etc?

        2) Is Synchro telling QB to search through all of the orders, or does QB
        do
it anyway, whenever an order is added? Is there any way that I can
        bypass
the searching for a duplicate order? and just have duplicates be
        overwritten
        with the new order?

        3) A Miva end user had informed me that when they configured Synchro NOT
        to
add the "mm" prefix, the synchronization process was somewhat faster.
        Why
would that be if QB is searching thru all of the orders anyway?

        4) What configuration/settings/...etc in QB and/or Synchro do you
        recommend?

        Thanks,
        Rich
