I lost all of the products on Miva while trying to update them into
quickbooks (not vice versa). Any ideas about this? Although I have =
    had
some success with products and customers, I have not been able to
successfully synch any orders. Any ideas about this? Synchro says it
was successful, but then no data is actually transferred. Do the =
    orders
need to be batched first? Does anyone have any ideas regarding this?

I had the same issue happen to me with an early beta where all my
products from my live site disappeared. Lucky I had backups and now test
synchro using a local copy of the data files

this is a common problem with Synchro. For some reason if you specify Miva
to sync one way (from Miva to Quickbooks for example), synchro will also
update from Quickbooks to Miva. Can someone from Miva please explain why?
In my particular situation, I was using Beta 6. I created a new company in
Quickbooks to test Synchro's capabilitites. I then went into Synchro and
specified a transfer of products from Miva to Quickbooks. (I did this,
because I wanted to use Synchro to add all my products to Quickbooks rather
than have to enter them manually) Well, it took forever, and the result was
that I lost all 1100 + products within Miva. Had to reinstall a backup of
the the products database. Not fun :(

Craig, regarding the deletion of your products in Miva, I was wondering did
this happen when you created a new Quickbooks company or did you try this
with an existing company you already had setup? Just curious.

As far as the the other question you raised, I don't believe orders need to
be batched( this is a good thing for me). That being said, I think if
Synchro believes an order has already been processed, it won't try and send
the order again. So if you encounter some sort of problem, and Synchro
thinks the order has been sent, even though it hasn't, it won't send it
again. There should be some setting somewhere where you can reset this but
I have no clue if this capability is available.

          Hi Eric,

Miva Synchro will always synchronize both ways. There is no setting to tell
it to only synchronize from Miva Merchant to QuickBooks or the other way
around. The setting you are thinking about is whether or not to ADD products
created in Miva Merchant to QuickBooks and vice versa.

As for Miva Synchro deleting products in Miva Merchant, there is not code in
the software that would pass that command to Miva Merchant. But I'm having
Development look into this to see if there's any possibility something else
          may be happening.

If you delete and re-add the Miva Synchro Connector module in your store, it
will reset itself and resend all the existing orders in your Miva Merchant
admin. I'll ask about possibly adding a reset button for this.

          Thanks.

erased products on Miva Merchant site / will not synch

            Hi Eric,

The setting "Synchronize Products Created in Miva Merchant" means that, if
checked, products that already exist in Miva Merchant will be created and
            synchronized in QuickBooks.

Unfortunately, at this time, we are not able to offer a feature to choose
which direction to pass data, ie: from Miva Merchant to QuickBooks only.

The information you provided below is very helpful. Thank you. After talking
with Development about what you described, it looks like it is possible to
delete all your products in your Miva Merchant admin if you start over with
a new QuickBooks company file and do not reset the module in your Miva
Merchant admin. Miva Synchro thinks those products are already synchronized
and, since they are not in the new QuickBooks company file, it thinks they
are to be removed. We are working on a way to prevent this from happening.

            Thanks.

Jimmy, thanks for the info that helps. Just for clarification, if you go
into products and select (Miva to Quickbooks setting) it will add only
products that have changed or added. Is this correct? Another question, is
it possible to have Synchro support only synching in one direction? We
never (at least as it stands now) want quickbooks to update Miva.

Regarding Synchro deleting products in Miva, I can definately tell you that
this can happen as it has happened to me, and others in this forum. For me
the situation was, installed quickbooks 2003, created a new quickbooks
company, used synchro to add products to quickbooks, and the result - Miva
data was deleted. Now I must point out that prior to setting up the new
account, I was using the Synchro with another test Quickbooks account and
            everything seemed to work fine.

Just to recap and make it a little clearer.

            1. Installed Quickbooks 2003 on test machine
            2. Installed Miva Synchro on test machine and the appropriate files on Miva
            Merchant
            3. Selected to sync products from Miva to Quickbooks
            3. Tested it and everything seemed to work fairly well
            4. Installed Quickbooks 2003 on production machine
            5. Installed Miva Synchro on production machine and used the previous file
            already installed on Miva Merchant
            6. Selected to sync products from Miva to Quickbooks
            7. All products in Miva were deleted.

Hope this helps in developing a test case. Hmmm, in thinking about it, maybe
I had problems because I had previously synced the Miva data in on the test
machine. (I have also noticed others using Synchro in a test enviroment and
then attempting to sync on a product environement) So all records in Miva
were flagged as synced. When I installed Synchro on the production machine
along with QB 2003, somehow Miva thought that Quickbooks had more recent
records, which were empty, and attempted to send the info back to Miva
resulting in the products being deleted. I bet something along those lines
happened. Jimmy, let me know what you found out.

Also don't let my somewhat discouraging post get you guys down. I know that
this type of stuff happens in beta products. I truely believe that once all
the issues are worked out, this will be a very good product, something I and
many others have a definate need for.

            Eric

Subject: [scu] erased products on Miva Merchant site / will not synch
            orders

I lost all of the products on Miva while trying to update them into
quickbooks (not vice versa). Any ideas about this? Although I have had
some success with products and customers, I have not been able to
successfully synch any orders. Any ideas about this? Synchro says it
was successful, but then no data is actually transferred. Do the orders
need to be batched first? Does anyone have any ideas regarding this?

            Craig
